April Monthly Service

Wednesday, April 16, 2008
Due to God the Parent and Oyasama's blessing and everyone's support we have been continually blessed with full seating attendance plus with 25 this month! Even more, we were blessed for the first time for a regular monthly service, the full complement of service performers (16) during the second half! First half we had 14 performers! Thank you to you all for your continuous support and offerings!

April Service

Greed is fathomless like muddy water.
When you mind is completely purified,
Then comes paradise.

Mikagura-uta X: 4

We are continuing our series on the Eight Mental Dusts and I'm sure you can guess the seventh of the eight mental dusts. Yes, GREED! Well we all have greed to some degree. Some of it might have to do with survival from needy times, but it's when we already have enough and we want and try to obtain more and more like there is no end (that's where fathomless comes from: you can't see the bottom) that we accumulate the dust of greed. But instead of focusing only on the negative, we shall also talk about the opposite of greed. More on this in this month's sermon after the April Monthly Service here at your local (late breaking) Tenrikyo Pearl Church this Sunday 4/13 at 10am.

Pearl Church Helps Family in Need

Saturday, March 15, 2008
Many thanks to Jean & Bob Bullen (Uncle Carl's wife Karen's sister and brother in law) for their donations of a full size bed, TV, night stand and dresser and to Rachel Haymer and AJ Treigle for their donations of a queen size bed and computer desk. These items were just delivered tonight to a needy family in the Palolo low-income homes who had virtually no furniture in their apartment! I wish you were all there to see their happy faces. They couldn't thank me enough, saying, "Thank you, Pastor Owen!" over and over!

They were procrastinating on submitting their kids' spring camp application for which I was reminding them, but with today's "gifts" they submitted their application right away! Four of them will be attending! Hallelujah!

Also thank you to Chance Chong our live-in who helped me haul it!

Carl, please pass this on to Jean and Bob!

With many thanks and appreciation!
