MONTHLY SERVICE PRAYER
September 2005

Before God the Parent, Tenri-O-no-Mikoto, I, Owen Osamu Nakao, Pastor of Tenrikyo Pearl Church, pray with reverence:

     God the Parent, since the time You appeared before us with Oyasama as Your Shrine, You gave us the proof of the origin, and revealed to us the divine model, teaching us the way to follow this path. Then with your free and unlimited workings, You swept away the dust from the minds of people, showing us miraculous blessings as You guide us toward the Joyous Life.

     Today is the day we are granted to conduct the September monthly service at Pearl Church. The service performers will unite their hearts to perform the seated service and Teodori joyously and in high spirits. Please accept our prayers as we brothers and sisters of this Path have looked forward to this day and have gathered before You to sing the Mikagura-uta.

     Through your blessing the annual Tenrikyo Bazaar was successfully held on August 28th with many members and friends from Pearl Church helping with joy and gratitude. We thank you kindly and deeply for these wonderful blessings.

In this seasonal time, the last year of the three years one thousand days before Oyasama’s 120th Anniversary, we have experienced another disaster in the form of Hurricane Katrina in the gulf region of the United States. Many people have perished, more still needs to be rescued, and many left homeless and destitute. We are aware of the urgency to advance our spiritual growth in this seasonal time and we vow to work together engaging in hinokishin and salvation work with a unity of mind.

     With the Shinbashira as the core we vow to take Instruction Two into our hearts and make sincere efforts in our daily lives to truly follow the Divine Model of Oyasama.

     We pray that Your guidance will strengthen us into worthy Yoboku, striving with a single heart for the salvation of others. We hope that our efforts will bring joy to You and peace in this world. With our minds in unity towards the Truth of the Jiba, we would like to spiritedly perform the September Monthly Service today, held in this 168th Year of Tenrikyo.

     Through your blessing we had the honor of a visit to Pearl Church by the church headquarters director in chief of administrative affairs Rev. Masahiko Iburi and the head of the Overseas Department America section Rev. Takaharu Ichise on July 16th. Also on that same day, 6 persons including one from Pearl Church graduated from the Hawaii Shuyokai. In addition the Pastor of this Church departed on July 19th to attend the July monthly service at Tengen Bunkyokai and the Children’s Pilgrimage activities as the chairperson of the Hawaii Boy’s and Girl’s Association and returned safely on July 30th. We thank you kindly and deeply for these wonderful blessings.

We pray for the victims and survivors of conflicts and disasters in the world that they may have faith and resolve to overcome their grief and suffering. We pray for the homeless, that they also may have faith and resolve and eventually find shelter. In this last year, we continue to reflect on our ways and resolve to engage in Hinokishin and administer the Sazuke to those suffering from illness, so that we may convey the intention of the original Parent to people who are lost about their place in the world.

     God the Parent, we are extremely grateful for Your constant protection and gradual instruction that guides us on the path to spiritual growth. We are all striving for the sake of single-hearted salvation while leaning on the ever-living Oyasama.

     Today is the day we are granted to conduct the June monthly service at Pearl Church. The service performers will now unite their hearts to perform the seated service and Teodori joyously and in high spirits. Please accept our prayers as we brothers and sisters of this Path have looked forward to this day and have gathered before You to sing the Mikagura-uta.

     Through your blessing we are very fortunate to have a live-in missionary here at Pearl Church who will stay for one year and one person from Pearl Church to attend the Hawaii Shuyokai. We vow to use this opportunity in this seasonal time, the last year of the three years one thousand days before Oyasama’s 120th Anniversary to work together to further our spiritual growth by engaging in salvation work with a unity of mind. We thank you deeply for these blessings.

     Through your blessing seven members from Pearl Church were able to return to Jiba to attend our Parent Church, Tengen Bunkyokai 80th Anniversary and 130th Anniversary as one of the early fraternities during Oyasama’s physical presence. We thank you deeply for these blessings.

     Today, on this April monthly service at Pearl Church, we celebrate Oyasama’s 207th Birthday. The service performers will now unite their hearts to perform the seated service and Teodori joyously and in high spirits. Please accept our prayers as we brothers and sisters of this Path have looked forward to this day and have gathered before You to sing the Mikagura-uta.


     Through you blessing three people from Pearl Church will be returning to Jiba during this month of Oyasama’s Birthday. In addition, we have finally received the permit to post the church sign. We thank you deeply for these blessings.

Please accept our prayers as we brothers and sisters of this Path have looked forward to this day and have gathered before You to sing the Mikagura-uta.

We are now eight months away from the 120th Anniversary of Oyasama. While we live in relative peace and harmony in Hawaii, we realize that there are many people in the world suffering from the effects of disasters and conflicts. We pray for the victims and survivors of these conflicts and disasters; that they may have faith and resolve to overcome their grief and suffering. In this last year, we continue to reflect on our ways and resolve to further our spiritual growth by engaging in Hinokishin and administer the Sazuke to those suffering from illness, so that we may convey the intention of the original Parent to people who are lost about their place in the world.

SPRING GRAND SERVICE
PRAYER 2008

Before God the Parent, Tenri-O-no-Mikoto, I, Owen Osamu Nakao, Pastor of Tenrikyo Pearl Church, pray with reverence:
God the Parent, because of Your love for all Your children, You exhaust Your mind in every kind of way (Ofudesaki IV: 63). Out of Your parental love, You laid down the path of world salvation, teaching us the truth of human creation. We are truly grateful for Your protection, for saving us, drawing us to the Path, and allowing us to walk toward the Joyous Life.

The twenty-sixth of this month commemorates the 122nd Anniversary since the day when Oyasama shortened Her life by twenty-five years and withdrew physically because of Her deep parental love that wished for the spiritual growth of Her children.

We have experienced your deep parental love through the blessings of miraculous healings, people returning to Jiba and the many people who have attended the various church activities. Two persons attended the Besseki lectures, one person receiving the Truth of Sazuke and two attended the three month spiritual Development Course in Jiba. A record eighteen people attended or helped at
the Boy’s and Girl’s Association Spring Camp, ten attended the Oyasama Birthday Activity, 24 attended the Hinokishin Day cleanup at Honolulu Zoo and 15 people helped at the Annual Tenrikyo Bazaar. Also, we were able to receive divine sanction and completed the termite tent fumigation and roof coating repair with a dedication service held in the presence of our upper church head minister. In addition, We were also encouraged by the purchase of a 15-passenger van that has helped us in our salvation work. We thank you deeply for your protection as it has filled us with joy and gratitude.

The service performers, bearing in mind this precious day the portals were opened will express their appreciation and perform the January Grand Service at this church. We children of the Path have gathered to remember the hardships Oyasama faced and sing the Mikagura-uta. Please accept our sincere prayers.

In this 171st Year of Tenrikyo we church members and yoboku will devote ourselves to mastering the Service as Oyasama taught us, administer the Sazuke, engage in nioigake and salvation work and return to Jiba with as many people as possible. May You, God the Parent, continue to guide us with Your warm parental heart to allow us to convey the path of the Joyous Life to the people around us.
