Children's Pilgrimage Kaigai Shohi

Last year, Gordon Inouye (of Hawaii Central Church) invited two of his friends, Patrick Lum and Kennan Katayama, to join him in last year's Kaigai Shohi (Boy's and Girl's Hinokishin Corps).  Patrick's mom, Pauline notice how Patrick matured after the trip so, when Patrick asked if he could go again this year, of course she said yes, but that she was going too!  And she invited her friend Karen Mau and her son Robbie to join them.  Then they asked Kennan if he wanted to go again this year and he said “yes,” so the three of them participated in the Kaigai Shohi program.  Gordon couldn't join them, because he was over the age limit (15) and besides he had to attend Oyasato Seminar, but he was there to support them after the Seminar ended.

In the photo, Patrick just completed playing the Kotsuzumi (Small hand drum) for the church headquarters morning service hand dance at the Foundress' Sanctuary.  He was selected with eight others from Kaigai Shohi representing the different countries.
