October Grand Service at Pearl Church

We'll be commemorating the beginning of Tenrikyo by conducting the October Grand Service at Pearl Church.

When we sing the first verse of the daily seated service, what are we saying? “All ills sweep away and save us, please, Tenri O no Mikoto.”

We make a sweep away motion with our hands in the area of our heart. Which implies cleaning our heart. “Purify the mind” is the title of our sermon which covers the essence of the Tenrikyo teaching which
prepares our mind to receive the Truth.

In the Ofudesaki we read,

“There is nothing I cannot teach.  But there is no one who listens with a purified mind.”
